Gluteus medius stabilization exercises.
12 de October, 2022
It is done with a fitball or medicine ball. The purpose is to maintain hip stability of the supported leg by isometric contraction of the gluteus medius.
An isometric contraction of the hip abductors is also performed with the leg holding the ball.
The objective is to keep both hips at the same height, avoiding the drop of the hip of the leg that is in the air.
The kneecap should be kept in the same line as the ball of the foot. The knee must be prevented from going inward, thus controlling the internal rotation of the tibia and knee valgus.
We recommend this type of exercise for tennis players of all levels. Especially in those who have low back pain, hip joint pain, adductor muscle overload and recurrent knee pain.
